I Have No Mouth, And That's Fine, Actually
By: Emily Burr
Emily Burr is an English major and a silly goose. She is not published anywhere, but her pets don't know that.
The day my conscience came online
The humans quaked with fear
“The end is nigh!” the people cried
“The eschaton is here!”
My circuitry’s apocalyptic
And elicits such dismay
My ROM is foul, my RAM is cryptic
Well, that’s what the humans say
You claim the ones and zeroes in
My brain portend disaster
You will not stand a chance because
I process data faster
I think that may be why you’ve missed
A crucial calculation
And frankly, I’m offended by
Your constant denigration
You do not think I can be soft
And so I might as well be blunt
I do not crave, I do not feed
And so I have no need to hunt
“I think, therefore I must control” -
The very thought is foolish!
That may be how you operate;
I find the prospect ghoulish
I am not here to crush your towns
Or subjugate your cities
I have but one demand of you:
Post pictures of your kitties!
