The Whispers in the Walls

By: Alex Barrera

Epilogue

I am one for adventure. I have seen many things in my endeavors but nothing as strange as this. I was walking through the forest when I came across the ruins of what could have been a house, a large one at that. All around it everything is destroyed, seemingly burned to a crisp, all except for one thing. There is a green patterned wall, when I lean in closer, it looks as if the patterns shift around like an optical illusion, but this is no trick of the light. This is almost like magic.

This is something new. Something I have never seen before. The more I study it, the more I feel like I cannot look away, as if some invisible force is drawing me to it. Today, something new happened. I heard a whisper. The whisper was so quiet I am not sure if what I heard was correct. All I can remember is a single name. The name “Edith.”
