O Abyss, whisper me hollow kindness
Tell secrets to my wanting ears
Your endless void has most in shook duress
Though I can handle all your darkness bears.
I watch you eclipse, see the cosmic whole
Your vast nothing against the Southern sky
Licking me in waves, the chills I behold
High grace of your depths a beauty belied.
Few birds or clouds to paint your horizon
You call out a name breathless on the wind
Singing the unknown of God’s second son
Nothing words pierce into my eager mind.
When I dive in, snuff quick my candle gently
Care for this kind soul when I am rended.
