The Edge

Jeremy Rascon

There at the edge they stand on their toes

Falling from grace they've already done

No remorse, no regrets, at least not from them

There at the edge the sunset is barely visible

Waves of the oncoming monsoon rise above the horizon

The world doesn't exist past that line, they think

Limbo...

               They...

                           Could...

                                         Fall...

                                                    Into...

Past the snake pits and rings of fire

Deep within the earth crust

Where the magma lives

Bubbling below the surface

There at the edge

They look for signs

There at the edge

They sought

gods and goddesses,

demons and devils,

Myths they wish were true,

A reality that accepted them,

Comfort in their own skin,

To not be told they don't exist,

To not be blamed for the fall of society,

A friend..

There on the edge

They live
